Thr.
HANNAH wept much and prayed to the Lord … “Remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son …” — 1 Sam 1:10-11
REFLECTION
The people of the Old Testament regarded barrenness as a curse, a source of great shame and sorrow. Fertility, on the other hand, was a blessing and a sign of God’s favor.
Many people who suffer from infertility are very close and faithful to God. The attitude of a culture that aborts children, however, increases their anguish all the more.
PRAYER
Lord, may we again see children as a blessing. Give that blessing to all who long for a child.
